a faceless ghost

inside the void nests a cruel call
while my hands are baking a cake
the mouth of a faceless ghost speaks to me "build a fire!"
and to eat, and eat its flames
let fire fills my lungs
how do I tell my heart to stay tender?
while its flesh succumbed in a mischievous roar
of the faceless ghost
it grows large, larger than its host
I try and nudge its shoulder asking for peace
for the gruesome call to leave my body
and my heart to return to me, I’ll take care of it myself
but all along I’m my own company
with the cries of fury in my blood and madness eating my face
I’m the ghost, I can’t escape
